Origami — the project delivery platform of Origami Design + Build
Origami Design + Build is a design-build firm: we design and build homes, additions and remodels. Origami (origamidb.com) is the private web application our team uses to run that work — from a new lead's first call, through design and construction, to the final invoice. Our staff, and the clients, consultants and subcontractors working on our projects, sign in to see and update the work that concerns them.
What Origami is used for
Leads and clients
Track enquiries and referrals from the first call to a signed contract: meetings, site visits, proposals and follow-ups.
Projects and tasks
Every project's phases, task boards, requests, RFIs, change orders and meeting actions, with who is responsible and when it is due.
Schedules and calendars
Project timelines, and meetings and site visits booked on the team's own Google Calendars.
Files and documents
Drawings, photos and documents for each project, kept in the company's Google Drive and attached to the work they belong to.
Field and crew
Superintendents' daily logs, crew deployment and weekly timesheets for our employees and subcontractors.
Project finances
Contracts, billing, payments, reimbursable expenses and job costs for each project and for the business as a whole.
Who can use it
Origami is not a public or consumer service and has no open sign-up. An administrator at Origami Design + Build creates each account for our staff and for the clients, consultants and subcontractors on our projects. Each person sees only what their role allows.
How Origami uses Google
You can sign in with your Google account. Origami then receives only your name, email address and profile picture, and uses them to recognise your existing Origami account.
With your permission, Origami also connects to Google services to do specific jobs for you: Gmail (to send invitations, reminders and project emails — it cannot read your mail), Google Calendar (to show your meetings and to add meetings and site visits you book in Origami), and Google Drive (to store and open the files attached to projects and tasks).
Google data is used only to provide these features. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models. The privacy policy explains exactly what is accessed, how it is stored and how to remove it.
